History

Below is a brief list of the horses that have provided some of the highlights in past seasons

ZAFISIO

Made the frame in the German 2,000 Guineas during the spring of 2009, but his love of soft ground meant that he was rarely seen during the summer. When the weather turned, he emerged to win, in the space of two weeks at the start of November 2009, the Group 3 Prix Perth (1 mile) at St Cloud and the Group 3 Hessen Pokal (1 mile 2 furlongs) at Frankfurt.

CALLISTO MOON

We had him briefly at the start of his two year old career, but the wandering moon returned in the summer of 2009 and won four times in three months, culminating a class 2 handicap at Bath over 2 miles. He is a pretty useful hurdler as well when conditions stay dry.

ST ATHANS LAD

Achieved the extraordinary feat of winning nine races at one course in the same season when he thundered around Fontwell Park in an extravagant front running style in 1992/3. He did manage to increase his lifetime total there to eleven before injuries and a loss of enthusiasm prevented him exceeding course record holder Certain Justice's total of 16 wins there.

MISTER ED

Won several races, most important of these being the Midlands National at Uttoxeter in 1994. His specialty was marathon trips and twice finished in the money for the Scottish National at Ayr.

DONTLEAVETHENEST

Has won at places as diverse as Kelso, Plumpton, Doncaster and Kempton, but secured his most important prize when winning the 1998 renewal of the United Construction Handicap Chase at Ascot, a race regularly contested by the leading two mile chasers around.

MIRADOR

Came within a whisker of pulling off the most notable of successes when she was runner-up at Royal Ascot in 1996, at 100/1. She won both on the flat and over hurdles before retiring to stud.

RUM CAY

Acquitted herself quite well in a short racing career, winning a bumper at Towcester and a maiden on the flat at Doncaster, but excelled herself at stud, being the dam of the legendary Persian Punch
